aluminum rebar , bad idea?
Thinking of making a 6061 1.5OD .120 wall tube rebar to replace the existing front one on a crx. Basically no bends in it just a straight tube across to fit snug in the bumper.
Is this a bad idea?

it would be better than nothing
on a side note
i reccently rear ended a jeep cheroke and i went right under the bumper, and hit the hidden hitch the woman had
ZERO damage to her, and just a nick right through my bumper. if i woulda cut the **** out of my rebar like i planned (but didnt) it would have been a lot worse
they call them accidents for a reason

you could make one out of carbon fiber... given it had the proper weave pattern and thickness it would be quite rigid and strong... not to mention lightweight
but as soon as you hit something of any decent size... its done
