Hi, i have a 93 hatch w/ a ls motor.

symptoms: well it started today when i was coming home from work. In all gears the car was very jerky. Also my car died when it was rolling. Could the transmission cause my car to die?

also i noticed that there was a little bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust.


around two weeks ago i changed my fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil.

It might be the ignition coil. Or even the actual distributer. If the car throws out smoke and it smells like gas it could be running rich. Check the sparkplug gap and make sure they dont gave gasoline on them. The only other thing i could think of is the timing belt skipid a little. my timing belt skipped and while going my idle jumped around and when at a stop the car would die if i did not keep my foot on the gas,but my timing belt skipped a lot. I took mine to a mechanic. I hope i was of some help. Good luck
