Well i have a 98 itr with b18c5 stock motor and it had ran extremely well until the other night. I was messing around and ill admit i miss shifted and i didn't see how high the rpms went but i cought it pretty quick
Now the car still idles great and runs normal driving it like it should but i can tell there is a loss of power.
Now here comes the thing. The person who adjusted my valves before set them all loose and do you think when i miss shifted they got looser causing it to loose power?
it isn't that much power loss but its noticeable
i just hope there isn't bent valves and if there is what should i do about getting them replaced?
I have yet to do a compression test yet but i think that will show if i have one or not.
What are the proper steps to a correct compression test?
here is a pic of the car for you who wanna see her lol

Honestly its probably all in your head. If you did catch it quick you probably didn't cause any harm.
To do a compression test, pull all the plugs, pull the fuel pump fuse under the hood (its a 15 amp fuse, just look at the diagram to find which one it is) then turn the engine over 5-6 times
Let us know how it goes.

nope car still sounds normal as it could be
slightly more ticking now but not too much
the thing that has me is it seems to have lost come power
so would my valve adjustment being really off cause this?

After compression test (if it turns out good) readjust the valves. Set them to stock specs or slightly tight (exhaust needs to be looser than intake still). No reason to set them loose on a stock engine. The whole point of the adjustment is to tighten them.

Man, that car would look so sweet with some brand new floormats. Too bad you don't have a set.

I atill havnt done the valve adjustment yet but the compression test results are in!
At wot with all plugs removed the compression is 240 dead on across the board.
Is that about normal?
Also im stumped on why the car still runs sluggish
had a brand new dizzy
plugs look good
wires have good spark
only thing is the valves are chattering a tad more than before.
Now im thinking maby my cat is clogged up? hence running sluggish a tad

unplug the dizzy so you wouldnt fry the coil.

haha your not gonna fry the coil from cranking the car for 10 secs but if thats what you do more power to you
you can do a leak down just so you the results of that but if your 240 all across i would say its fine prob all in your head and your pushing the pedal 92% down then 100% cuz your nervous about it
