CLICK ME AND READ

That has some useful info on this topic, but a short answer to your question is no, the GS-R swap will run like crap on a P28, tuned or not, unless it already has a non-stock intake manifold on it.

We need more info to help you. The confusing part is you saying "and everything on the car is obd2" on an OBD1 car, with an OBD1 P28 on it. the ECU defines whether the engine is truly OBD1 or OBD2, and unless you got THE rarest of rare ECUs, an OBD2 P28 then your car should still ne OBD1.

Didn't think you could add the IAB features to a P28 - is this a new development I'm not aware of? Seriously?

Is the hardware in a P28 capable of having IABs? I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's not "common knowledge" around here.

Hell if you can do that I'd say hit the OP up and offer your services.

Cool. I don't want you to think I'm trying to prove you wrong, or start a pissing contest. It's just that other notable ECU tuners have told me it's not possible, so if it is that's big news to me. It would open up a lot more possibilities to suggest to would-be swappers.

dunno why its not common, its on the fourms titled Add IAB to p28...

READ CAREFULLY: The procedure to add IABs is different depending on how they are wired. One IAB wire will always run to the ECU, the other will run to either +12v or gnd. Choose the procedure to match how your car is wired! This is very important!

USDM ODB1 B18C: ( ECU sends ground, IAB wired to +12v )

IAB conversion... (this is for Manual cars only, but an AUTO USDM ECU converted to manual will have all the parts you need present)

Remove: R135...11F0/1720 autos only R150...1980/LS only

Add:

Q17(A143)...already present on USDM auto 11F0/1720 (A5x, L5x, etc). Not present on EDM auto 11F0/1720 (G5x, etc).
Q34(D1780 or C3225?)... already present on USDM auto 11F0/1720 (A5x, L5x, etc). Not present on EDM auto 11F0/1720 (G5x, etc). may use PCS trans: Q31(D1780)
jumper from right hole of R135(trans side) to D13(arrow side)

there is a picture on the fourms...

I beg to differ on that. I ran my GS-R swap for two years on a stock P28. It really never ran like crap. The only thing is that the secondary butterflies wouldn't engage. But I did do a before and after dyno once I put hondata s200 on it. Before it dyno'ed 161hp to the wheels. After it did 182hp. But I did add a spoon throttlebody and cam gears skunk2 intake manifold CTR intake ITR exhaust cams and dual valve springs. So that's where I think I got most of my HP jump. And the car passes smog cause its BAR'ed.

Hmmm, a TB, cam gears, skunk2 manifold and all your cams without a proper tune did about nothing, so yea it ran like ****, about -20hp

Im sorry to hear that your using hondata, support Honda enthusiasts, boycott Hondata!

Just imagine this way, way bigger:

I'm wondering how leaning the engine out, having an incorrect VTEC cross over, incorrect timing maps, lower rev limiter, and no IABs didn't run like crap.

Okay so let me get this straight. A stock GS-R motor makes about 170 crank horsepower. And I got 160 to the wheels. How is that running like ****? Engine never had a problem revving to 8k. It was very consistent at the track. It bested a 14.23 at Palmdale. Even got me runnerup in brackets. Topped out at about 155mph. To me it ran beautiful considering incorrect vtec crossover. Incorrect timing maps, low rev limit and no IAB's.

even if you could wire up the IAB into the ecu and get a chipped p28 with Iab sensors working how will you know its working? I know the IAB solenoid is a 2 pin plug. but like the knock sensor will it only have a positive wire? or does it need a negative also?

Well then it wasn't a STOCK P28 then - fuel cut for a stock P28 is 7200rpm.

I'm not going to argue that. I never saw the internals of the ECU. But when they installed the s200 they didn't mention that it was chipped. So your guess is as good as mine. All I know is that I took it off of a stock 94 ex coupe.

sorry to bust bubbles, however, Skunk2, jun, spoon, Mugen, all others... they ALL are crap, stock computers run better then those chips do. Most of which are the exact same program. After market Chips make you lose 99.9999% of the time. just because it may feel faster... trust me its not!

Your better off going to a Upload dump and finding somone with a tune that has a simillar engine/mods, ask a tuner to copy it and put it on a eprom or a eeprom and use that. imo WAY better choice then ebay or aftermarket chips.
