Default HT, recommend me an exhaust

I have a 94' prelude v-tec. I don't want a fart can, i'm looking for something fairly stock looking, but it doesn't need to be dual tip. In short, my muffler is shot, and i want to replace it with a catback that performs well, isn't raspy or loud, is affordable/cheap (while still being a good mod), and doesn't stick out in a ricey, fart can way. I'd appreciate any experienced suggestions

By reading your post I say go with Apexi World sport ll. However expect to gain 3hp if you're lucky. They do sound nice and quite though.

Affordable. Plus, i'd be gaining about 10hp at this point, from the sound of things, my exhaust is creating new exits as it self implodes. I think the muffler is totally shat itself lol. On the serious side, i wouldn't mind a 3-4 hp improvement if it was cheap. I'm going to put the money in my CAI, between the two i'd be very happy to see ~8-10hp gains. I bought the car for reliability, and a small taste of performance. I'm simply replacing parts with mods as i go, i'm a poor college kid lol... Thank you for the recommendation...

There aren't any performance exhausts that have a "stock look". The closest one I can think of is the RSR Exmag, since it has a relatively small single tip. You may want to consider doing a custom exhaust if a low-key look is what you are after. The WSII has a big shiny muffler and tip.

I'm not saying i want a replica of the stock exhaust, i'm saying i don't want a big, shiny fart can hanging out the back of my car.

I'll reword this: I'm looking for a subtle looking and sounding exhaust. I figured "stock" wouldn't describe what i'm looking for very well...

get a vibrant performance dual tip flat black muffler and either a kteller or SMSP exhaust piping kit. it will look practically stock and as long as you have a cat it shouldnt sound too bad

I'd go with a 2.5" cat back, a 22" resonator and a large 2.5" 5x8x14 Oval Magnaflow muffler p/n 12216.

It's generally quiet especially with a cat unless you wind it up at WOT. It also does not have a big ricey fart can tip so it looks like it could be stock. Most local muffler shops should be able to accomodate you for a cheap price.

transpeedmotorsports in the h-t marketplace can also get magnaflow mufflers cheaper than anywhere else. great guy to deal with.

I say Vibrant muffler over magnaflow. Ive had both and like vibrant better. Get a 22'' resonator, 2.5 piping, 2.5 cat with a cheapo megan header.

My money is on vibrant as well. Vibrant has a good balance between price, looks, and performance/sound. It sounds like stock untill you stomp on it, than it sounds pretty throaty.

Magnaflow because of its versitility and price would be second choice. I've purchased lots of magnaflow parts and they are pretty reliable, and affordable. Performance wise they are average.

Make sure you use a resonator as others have requested. Especially if you go with a gutted cat. If not it will sound like your intake inhailed a bee's nest and they made it through your motor and out your exhaust lol.

Oh, and to the op, its VTEC. variable timing engagement cam I think it is. But I got corrected, so I felt it necessary to do you the same favor. There is no dash between the V and T. I don't know why its said V tec, but eh...nobodies perfect.

Yeah but it's not 2.5" it's 60mm. That was my deciding factor. Get something quiet that flows less or sacrifces a little noise for a little more flow.

I found my own 2.5" cat, 22" magnaflow resonator, 14" magnaflow muffler experience pretty painful and fun-killing. Your results may vary.

I'm not really aware of much that flows well and sounds ok. Maybe something clever with a helmholtz resonator or two welded to the side of a pipe.

2.25 on a h22 is to small.

Atleast 2.5

There are dyno graphs floating around that say 3 inch pipes make more power even without tuning.

if you get magnaflow, keep the cat. my frieind has one on his f22b accord straight pipe w/o mandrel bent exhaust, it sounds like a riced out dirt bike.

Or all of the above?

Apexi WSll and call it a day. $400 shipped and doesn't look too bad. Don't worry about making 500+ hp, not all of us will ever see it either LOL.

I like tanabe better but they are $500+. WSll is nice a quite when it needs to but loud enough when full throttle. Again just don't expect crazy numbers.

Noise levels, and me being a moron and not realizing how obvious fart cans look when they're stainless steel.
Otherwise it was installed quite nicely. Good exhaust shop, and the SS piping has held up great as one would hope.

I'm not trying to stir up crap, it's just that I was a H-Ter back in the day that read these posts and genuinely thought that a magnaflow fart can + long resonator + cat would be quiet, based on what people said. That belief cost me a bunch of money in exhaust bits.
