Default H22 Low Rev Limit

I asked this in the Prelude forums with little feedback, I'm confident I'll get better response here.

I've done a lot of searching but a lot of common 'safe mode' issues seem to deal with VTEC or CELs - mine's not. This is on a pretty much stock jdm H22a with virgin p13.

Here are my symptoms:
Overall the car runs pretty well minus pretty bad gas mileage.
Occasionally at the start the car will feel sluggish and I would have to put in a bit of gas not to stall.
No CELs
Rev limit at ~6800 (stock should be about 7400).
VTEC engages throughout post 4,900rpm (stock should be around 5,500 I believe).

These are the symptoms under normal driving conditions. I don't beat the car, I don't exceed 80mph and the car's warmed up as I endure these issues. Oil level is fine and speedo/tach isn't off ect...ect...

Has anyone experienced the same issues as me and figured it out? I know it could be several things... I'm trying to find another ecu as we speak. Someone (in the lude forum) said bad timing... but I am wondering if the car will even run that well if the timing is off... I wouldn't think so? So if you've endured what I'm going through let me know. Thanks

You're probably wrong.

Not 100% sure on the vtec x-over, but I'm sure all h22s redline at 7200 and limit at 7400-7600. So my limit is about 800 lower on an accurate tach.

your p13 is usdm from an obd1 prelude which has a redline of 6800 and vtec crossover at 4900 or something like that

visual differences im not really sure, but theres some pictures on this link of a jdm p13 if that helps u
http://www.preludepower.com/fo...60246?

also you realize that the jdm version has a speed limiter at like 113 or something

have you thought about other ecus such as the p28 or the p72 and getting it chipped/tuned

The motor is pretty stock and I'm planning on keeping it that way. And I have no intentions on going past 113... or past 80 for that matter.

Up because I think the only H series that redlines near what I am is a non-vtec. But obviously I have vtec motor and ecu.

chipping your ecu on your usdm p13 may be easier/cheaper than looking for a jdm one

if you really want a jdm one id search reputable dealers, and maybe ebay if your desprate

I edited my post, I don't think you're correct in thinking that I have a usdm ecu. I think all P13s should be going to 7400 rpms without problems.
