i think my civic hates me... =(
i need some help my fellow honda bros. i have a 2000 civic EX and i have about 110K miles or more... and my C.E.L. for the ELD (Electrical load detector) and my CAT so i went to honda and i got a new fuse box (for the ELD) and i installed it. so i was good to go! but on the way home from the gym today (one day later) the damn CEL came on again!
so my question is... could the CEL come on because of my CAT? or could my alternator be going bad?
this is a total bummer.

my eld came on and i got a fuse box for under the hood from the junk yard and it helped for a while it came back on and i got one for under the dash and its all good
also your probably due for a new alt anyway

hmmm couldnt i just change the fuses under the dash? or dose it have to be a "new" fuse box uder the dash? or would getting a new alternator fix it?

First check to see if any fuses under the steering colum are burned. There is this one fuse that works bothe the Secondary o2 and ELD. Also there is a bulletin on these civics I really don't know if it applies to yours but give it a try. Check to see if your engine harness isn't rubbing against anything on the back of the engine block. Sometime the harness rubs against the intake manifold bracket in the back and it causes a short. cool i will look at the fuses today when i get home from work, now when you say "engine harness" do you mean engine mount? or like a electrical harness? sorry im a little bit of a noob but i'm trying not to be!

Just because you got a CEL for the ELD doesn't mean the ELD is bad. My ELD CEL went off because my O2 sensor wires shorted out - that's what the ELD does, it detects load from "infinite amperes," blows the fuse, and sets the ELD...unless there's another CEL that tells you that the ELD is bad or something, I never have seen that.
In any event, unplug the battery for 10 minutes, and put it back on. Then get those codes checked, yeah it could be because of the cat, it could be because 1000 different things, don't just try to rule out possibilities of the CEL, as it seems you're doing, get that thing scanned.

Like Syndicate said^ you might also want to check your Secondary O2 sensor to see if it aint shorting out. Those are the two places that i have read where this problem sometimes comes from.

well, i didnt know all that could make the ELD go off.. but i havent gotten it scanned i will do that this weekend! and as far as my O2 sensors go i had both of them replaced around 6 months ago...
and i did look at the fuse box under the driver seat and no fused looked burnt out

Has nothing to do with replacing them. Make sure the one by the cat doesnt have any open wires where it can make a short. Usually they sometimes rub against the frame and they cut open. As for the harness check your electrical engine harness.
