Stock Steering Wheel Poll
I'm looking at getting an new (used) OEM type wheel, but I'm sorta hesitant because of the state of my original wheel (whale tale, dx/std wheel). the rubber on that wheel is no longer adhering/glued to the steel in the wheel, so it can twists around. and thats kinda annoying.
So i'm wondering what the state of your stock steering wheels are,
Is the rubber still attached/adhering to the steering wheel ?
and does anybody have experience with oem steering wheels off of ebay

I had 2 wheels with over 200,000 miles and both had not come loose, maybe its more of a climate thing, Im up north, maybe where it gets hotter the heat can loosen or break down the adhesive

true, mine sat in open sun first 18 years of its life all spring through fall, garage kept winter, and it is in great shape. I am up north too where its never really that hot. low 90s is usually tops around here.

and does anybody have experience with SIR steering wheels

I have an OEM JDM SiR wheel on my Si and it looks nothing like that.
Mine is essentially exactly the same as the stock USDM CRX Si wheel. But with a very thick black leather wrapping with real stitching on the inside edge, and the 'H' logo in the center is black chrome, not silver paint as on the USDM logo.

my 89 a few years ago had a good steering wheel...the 3 spoke pic you have. it was in upstate new york. however, my 91 (spent it's life in ohio) is all loose at the top, same style.
i had a mint one from the yard and my dad threw it out by accident
i blame the previous owner, who was an idiot. i've thought about adhesive to fix it.
oddly, i haven't noticed lately as it's made me adjust my 'steering technique'

well I guess I'm looking for an SI wheel then
or I might try to use a 91 prelude wheel, but it needs to be extended 1 inch

The wheel in your pic looks like a Civic wheel. I'm not sure if it's EDM, JDM or USDM though. But most def some type of Civic wheel.

the original one on my 88 Si did that.
i switched it for my 90 Si. then switched it for a UK VTi leather.

i think hes asking about SiR steering wheel. i dont think he meant that it was one.
but i have the same stock steering wheel on my 89 crx and its still in great condition.
maybe because it was professionally leather wrapped by the previous owner.

I threw my old steering wheel away because of that falling apart feeling. I got a Sparco steering wheel now with the horn buttons on the sides and I love it!

I had a sparco wheel on for a while too but now I'm wanting the stock look back, and I was getting sick of people asking if the red (horn) buttons were for the nitrous
(I dont have or want nitrous).
and I noticed that it is a bit easier (not faster) to turn the wheel (like when parking
) when I put the larger stock wheel back on. and it seems so big now, even though its only slightly larger.

Hahaha, I hear you on that! I hear the same thing too but I love the grip my Sparco steering wheel has.

Search for BA8 prelude wheel. It doesn't look like the 91 prelude wheel. But doesn't need to be extended, and is really really cool because everyone asks about it because no one uses it or recognizes it because its not "Mainstream" Looks OEM in my car too

thanks for the input
damn that wheel looks plain though, and I hate those tiny horn buttons, try finding one of those when your getting cut off. its good to know that it doesnt need extending though.
Oh and that looks alot like the 88-91 civic 4 door wheel (it might be the jdm models only, not sure)
I already have a 91 prelude that I'm just about to start hacking up, so I can extend it 1 inch.

I really Like this wheel, and i really want to make it work, thats why I'm gonna try to extend it.

I vote the stock leather wrapped wheel found in Canadian SE, European VT (not vti like people keep saying, thats wrong), and JDM SiR models. Here's the one in my crx
