Default civic air box on a gsr motor

Will it reduce air flow and then reduce the power of a gsr motor if I put a civic air box on it? The reason I ask is I have a gsr swapped civic and the I have a civic air box that I want to throw on. Thanks

hrmmm.. I will fit but I believe you will have to squeeze the hell out of the plastic arm to make it fit in the box.

I dont really know but I believe there is.. since the d16y8 manifold is slightly less powerful then the b16a2 therefore I beleieve the airboxes should be a lil different or larger for the si. but if it looks fine with the ex box then I say keep it..

Ya I have an intake on it now and I will just put on the air box and see if i notice the car acting different or a difference in performance, Then I will decide if I should keep it on. Thanks for your help.

Anyone else know anything about this?

I dont see how it would be any less. The filter may have a little less surface area, but the tubing is the same, and the flow requirement cant be any different for the b16a and the b18c.
(if you didnt know, the ej8 and the em1 have the exact same intake box, hence my comparison)

edit**
Now that I think about it, there is a euro civic with a b18c, that has the same intake as well. No, I cant remember the exact model, but the intake parts are the same.
You will be fine.
I will, however, recommend you use a K&N drop-in filter...

Either way, a Box is getting more flow (from my own epxeriences) than a cone filter on certain applications. Has to do with area and volume.
