This is not an urgent need question, but I just need some input. My B18C5 is completely stock, internals wise. I have a Buddy Club Racing Spec header and test pipe, AEM intake... nothing major. My car smells much like a car without an emissions system obviously But my family members, who know nothing about cars, think that my car smells like it is going to die... My mom asks me whenever it is freshly driven and in the garage, if it is on fire Are they retarded or do you think I have something to really worry about? My car runs beautifully, has no CEL, and burns a small amount of oil...

Sorry if this makes no sense, but its hard to explain...

 

"Fire" smell only makes me think of hot brakes or ridden clutch. And my exhaust is test piped, too, so it's also stinky. Chances are they just don't know much about the smell of exhaust and therefore think something's wrong?

 

It smells nowhere near hot brakes, ridden clutch, or fire... it smells like test piped exhaust!

 

I would say it's the smell coming from the exaust with the test pipe. Try put back the CAT to see if that help.

Honestly, It smells pretty dang close to what my 74 camero smells like when its running.

What you smell are hydrocarbons. My mom also busts my ***** about the smell and about my back bumber and wing turn black from the unburnt fuel. How are you not throwing any CEL with that set up?

Have the rear O2 sensor hooked up to the test pipe with a CEL eliminator... havent had a CEL since day one of test pipe/header

 

ive had a godspeed test pipe on mine since 02 with no cel, you can definatly smell it more but its never smelled like garbage thats weird
