Default Time to replace the clutch...any pitfalls I should look out for?

Never done it before. I will have access to a lift and every tool I may need. Any peculiarities in doing the job I need to be aware of?

Thanks,

Mike

It's a pretty big job, I've done 2 and the second one we dropped the tranny and had the flywheel off in two hours. It went back in after about 3 hours. That is without a lift.

The first one I did took like 12 hours to get the flywheel out and another 8+ to get it back in.

It's ok to use airtools to take it apart, and maybe run the bolts back(always start the bolts by hand) in but final torque specs should be left to a good torque wrench.

I may be in need of a clutch, so I'm wondering the same thing... Is it a pretty straight forward job? And what's this I hear about resurfacing the flywheel? Is that needed?

I just did my new clutch and flywheel last month. The procedure is very straight-forward -- no black magic here. BUT, there are lots of little things you have to do (i.e. make sure to disconnect ALL sensors, clips, wires, and tabs). Getting the axles out can be a pain, but if you have an air hammer, it should be a piece of cake (we had one -- it took 5 seconds). Also, if you have it on a lift, be sure to support the tranny fully, as it's pretty heavy and akward, and you don't want it accidentally crashing to the ground. Best advice: take it slow and easy, and be very thorough.

Post up or e-mail if you have any questions during the install.
