Eh, too many of the styling bits look tacked on and as a result, tacky. Not a cohesive, integrated design at all. 200 hp is pretty cool though, I'm surprised no one else has gone for big power in a cruiser yet.

I seen ones from the '80s, they sound good and can back up the noise, but it seems like many big japanse cruiser bikes get a psuedo 'harely" treatment. and that just turns me off on them.

The story I heard was that Yamaha issued a standing warning to anybody thinking about encroaching on V-Max power-bruiser territory: "do it, and we'll release what's up our sleeve... and it'll smash your toys out of the park."
Sure enough, the market has picked up in the past few years and Yamaha pulls this thing out of the hat. It may not be a good looking bike, but they claim to have addressed a lot of handling problems that the old bike had, and you just can't argue with two hundred horses. That's factory-back-superbike power... and there are rumors flying that significant gains won't be too corked up.
OK - so your R1 has the capability to turn faster.... but a lot of guys are kidding themselves into believing that they are really that fast.

Eh, any of the big 4 could probably make a motor with that kind of power. Kind of like how Honda and Yamaha could make a Busa/ZX-14 competitor if they were so motivated.

Yeah but with 200 hp Joe Cruiser is probably more likely to fail to negotiate a turn than Joe Squid on the R1. Both of them are probably guard rail roast though.

Oh, I wouldn't disagree, not at all. It's just a question of whether or not they'd do it. I think the warning meant "if we start seeing you put out 120, 130, 140hp bikes, we're going to through down the gauntlet." I'd give 'em credit for doing that. If anybody wants to respond with another stratosphere bike, then I'll be pretty excited

So the question is really.. what kind of idiot do you want to look like?

I think Joe Cruiser trying to hold on to a 200 hp lead sled o' death would be more entertaining.
