Well took the car to the dealer today to get it inspected and various other maint.

So I get a call telling me my cars ready but the car did not pass inspection. I was told my Xenon headlights and Yellow High bean bulbs caused it to fail. I mean I kinda thought it might be an issue but forgot about it. Anyone else with the same issue, or road block. The delership told me if its not OEM it wont pass. HHHmmmmm

 

hid's on a vehicle that did not come equiped with hid's as original equipment makes the headlights illegal.. yellow high beams im not sure about

Perhaps if you did a quality retrofit you might have squeeked by. As far as the dealership telling you only OEM , they are trying to make money. So long as the after market part passes government requirements (not talking about the HID) its acceptable.

 

I'm pretty sure if you want the dealership to certifiy it for sale, you'll have to go with all oem. Even if you have retrofit done correctly, the dealer will not make it honda certified since it's not oem.

 

my e46 3 series bixenons passed inspections since 05 till now.

 

I think if I had not taken it to the dealer it would have passed at a Mom and Pops station.

Prob right. I passed with HIDs in headlights...not sure about the yellow DRLs
