90 Accord Project, Am I getting a good deal?
I am very sure I am, but I thought I would share and ask questions with you guys and hear your input...
Bought a 1990 Accord LX a few months ago for 500, body in decent shape, minor rust around back fenders, pain in good shape, dent in hood, however the motor ran very rough.
Drove it to the shop, found out that all intake valves were burnt, one piston was ringed out, water pump was going, timming chain needed replaced, seals were gone, and so forth.
So he said he would rebuild it for like 850$. So I asked him what would the rebuild consist of, he said, new pistons, rings, valves, seals, head, water pump, timming chain, and I'm sure little misc. stuff I'm missing.
Welp I get the car back this Friday and I can't wait, really looking forward to having a motor that runs on all 4's again.
So my total in the build so far is
500$ For the car
1000$ For the motor rebuild, clutch, and cv joint.
100$ For brakes, and that number is a guess, doing brakes myself, too be done yet.
So watcha think? 1600$ for a 90 Accord that has new brakes, motor, clutch, and cv joint...

Well, you can either get the current engine rebuit and have high miles or buy a new engine/tranny combo for about the same price with less than 60k on them. the rotors are also pressed on so good luck if you have to replace them
ya, ive done mine on my 93 n it took me 3 hours and i can bust out typicall brake jobs in 45 min. u gotta seperate the wheel bearing its pretty stupid and easy to not get them in all the way, which in my situation there was no play that day , then the next day it was loose as hell and had to be retightened.
ya i guess its n ok deal u will probably find alot more maintence once u drive it for a while. make sure all ur lights in the dash come on when you first turn the key forward. its easy to remove the check engine light bulb or ABS bulb.
