This has happened to me before about a month ago. Car cranks but won't fire over. Car gets fuel but doesn't get any spark. It's a brand new distributor. Last time it happened I went to try and start the car the next day and it fired right up. Any ideas? Could it be the main relay? Please help.

 

It's a 1997 base model prelude 5-speed

 

Does that year fall into the ignition recall time period?

 

I had the same problem with my car. turns out it was a bad coil. Its worth looking at

 

I checked and recall was done... Also I am getting spark....so I get spark, car cranks, I hear fuel pump, but car dosen'e fire over????? Besides checking timing, belt seems OK.

 

so did u figure out what the problem was?? cuz im sorta goging through the same ****. but mine there s no spark coming out

 

im seeing this kinda problem alot and as far as i know the best things to start off checking are 1) main relay or 2)coil

I had this problem in my 92 and pulled my freakin hair out trying to find out what it was and it was the switch under the clutch pedal. The honda shop where I live helped me out on that one. Sometimes if you slam the clutch pedal it will start. Bypass it to see if that is it. If it is then leave it bypassed or change it out. Also there are 2 switches one upper and one lower. Hope this helps.

 

check if the spark is yellow if it is, the coil may be the problem
