The other thread is getting Ugly. Tom has come up with a great idea. He deserves full credit for this. Unfortunately, the underlying agendas are getting in the way. This thread will probably get deleted. Lets get some honest input and discussion on holding this event at Etown, since EVERYONE wants it held there in this time frame.
From a racers perspective, here's what I see would work.
$1000 Entry Fee ($500 Deposit due 1 month before event - may be flexible with this)
16 car field
If you don't make the field, you get $500 back.
Payout is based on actual car count, something like this
65 % winner, 20 % Runner-Up, 7 1/2 % Semis
For a 16 car field this would approx be:
1st - 10,000
2nd - 3,000
Semis - 1,000
I'm sure we could get some sponsors to put up some cash to sponsor quickest ET, Best R/T, Highest MPH...etc.
Most racers know me, I am a straight shooter...no BS. I would not make one penny off of this event. I would like to see it happen and would donate my time to make it happen. With my relationship and other local racers relationships with Etown, this should not be a problem, nor cost anything to put on (I assume that say $50 from each entry will go to the track). I'd love to get javier involved, but not sure how much input he has at Etown anymore.
Rules:
2500 lb min weight (2700 Ecotec)
26 X 10
No Lexan, etc
72mm turbo for all
water to air IC allowed
Nitrous 200 lb weight penalty (Van Natten)
Roger does Tech - We can pay him out of entry fees - there is a lot of money involved, cars will be teched hard after runs that are fast.
One last note, having it at Etown would make it a 2 day event, would allow people that have some issues during qualifying on Saturday to get things right before Sunday.
Let's hear some feedback.
Lets get a tentative list going for the new race, let me know if you would seriously try and make the event:
1) NRG Tech Civic (Miller)
2) Avid (Franklin)
3) Agressive Racing Civic (Felix\Hector)
4) Thewickedone Civic (GaRRy)
5) IPG Parts Civic (Innes\Ferguson)
6) Bryan Danieli's Red Hot Wally Winning Civic (Danieli)
7) Tempest Racing JDM'ish Integra (Simpson)
8) Barone Brothers' Bada$$ Civic (Barone)
9) ShawnR's Cleanest SFWD 99 Si Ever (ShawnR)
10) AFI Turbo Civic (Fresh Manny)
11) CLM Tuning's Maroon Merauder (Cunha)
12) Mr. Green's multi-Wally Winning Civic (Green)
13) Kyle's Wally Winning Civic (Herrera)
14) CFT's Big Wally Winning Camo Civic (CFT)
15) CSI Cobalt (Ballard)
16) T1 Race Development Integra (Palo)
17) Midnight Auto

i like your idea, Brian, it seems so much more logical, and would certainly be "more achievable" for racers(entry fee, big field, @ etown, what more could ya ask for)
This is the best thing I've read on here in quite awhile. Brian you actually have an idea that I could see happening.
I can see this working alot better than NED, only because there will be more fans coming to Etown already for Fall nationals.
Tom great Idea by you and Brian way to run with it. I hope this doesn't discourage Yoparts from helping out with the event and live feeds.

This is more like it! i was talking to numerous people yesterday, about this street car event. and 5K is just not in the budget for most....1K i believe could be swung, and the not making the field, 500 back would be great.
What can we do to help Brian?

I will list 2 reasons:
1) There is an existing event we can piggy back off of (Major factor)
2) The prestige of Etown alone at that time of the year would probably make people like Tony, Courtney and other West Coast racers want to make the drive to Etown. I don't want to speak on their behalf, but I'm not sure that they would drive all this way to race at VMP. People that have raced at and attended the fall nationals know what I am talking about. It's hard to explain. (Please don't take this as a shot at you)

Never mind he explained it already.

I would definitely be in for sponsoring this event and participating. Lets get this going.
I would say e-town is the best bet.
One of the things i noticed is you put that if you dont qualify you will recieve your $500 back, i would say keep that money in the pot. Make it $500 non refundable deposit.

Sounds great Brian, get to work!
I'm with Miller, once you're in you're in, if you don't qualify at least you tried. Maybe make it a $1k buy in and if you don't qualify you get half of it back or something. And definitely not limit it to 8 cars, i just don't get that. Anybody with money to throw down should be able to compete. The more participants the more excitement and the bigger the pot.
We all know that if it was limited to 8 cars pre registered, only 4-6 would actually show up, something always comes up on race day.
Edit: just re read Brian's post, i think we're already on the same page with deposits vs. buy ins.

haha, nice.
this is the event that everyone would want to see for sure...
...i can't really commit 100% to going to this event yet but will definately watch it and see how things pan out -- if i can get ferguson away from the Beam and Cokes for a weeekend i don't see any reason it wouldn't be doable for us...would be fun
i think piggy backing it with another ongoing event is the best idea for everyone involved.
