It wasnt really directed at you More at the masses of people that are running out and spending a bunch of $$ to save a couple of bucks at the gas pump. Doing math is a bitch sometimes

I currently spend approximately $600/month on gas.
I could buy a scooter for $150/month and spend $150/month on gas for it.
Which means I bought a scooter for practically FREE as long as I rode it 2 weeks out of the month.

Where, and what the hell are you driving?

My point was that people dont think the buying/selling, or buying additional vehicles all the way through. Taxes, registration, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, etc are all very real costs.

lol yeah, in the bay area scooter sales are sky rocketing. My coworker just got some blue yahama thingy, he said the 2 other scooters at the dealership sold while he was there

Thing is he has a civic Si and lives like 4 miles from work lol

My idea for wanting one is the parking I pay to go to work. I can get a used one here for about $1300. Insurance on these are like 200 a year. Gas.....cheap.

I pay $160/month for parking plus about $150/month on gas to drive to work. $310/month is a lot more than the ruckus would cost to run per month for me so it's worth it in every way......other than looking like a dork driving to work

Plus if I get this I can put my car in "pleasure insurance" which will make it cheaper to insure each month

This is true, but in my case, holy crap is it paying off. I bought a new Rebel for $3,200 out the door. It is my first motorcycle and I absolutely love it. Before the Rebel, I was paying out literally $280 is gas to keep my Ridgeline running. Now, as a total for gas and insurance, I'm paying literally $44 for my Rebel. Effectively, in less than 14 months the bike will have paid for itself

This is, of course, basing things on a 4.00/gallon price tag. As gas goes up, I save even more.

Unless folks have a convincing reason why they'd rather have a scooter than a motorcyle, I'd get a motorcycle because you don't look as "dorky"

Absolutely, brotha! I hate it when I can't.

I wish I would have gotten a bike a long, long time ago.

Good idea. I never thought of that, thanks

I would have to see what the insurance is here as we get ripped off on insurance in Manitoba. Apparently for bike insurance, it costs about 300-400 per month on average. The province next to us pay a fraction of that price so I would have to see.

You need a license with a 250cc? I just checked this thing out and it looks like I would want to get in trouble with this thing lol.

hrm, I might stick with the cheeseball scooter than. I want to keep cost down as much as possible as it's only for work and back. I can park it at a bike rack and not pay a thing which is awesome.

If this bike does highway speeds I will either get into trouble or kill myself hitting a deer or something lol.

there are a lot of ppl that get the ruckus for gas mileage but a lot of others get it because its easy and fun to mod. AND living in CA with the summer around the corner , there is nothing better but to cruise pch and checking out the honeys. feel me!

PLUS! it's considerd a MOPED so you are able to park at the bicycle rack! That's the law in CA, but I'm sure these little punk *** security guards might try to say something

I bought one for my wife a couple months back. She works 2.5 miles from the house. She was driving the Tahoe to work everyday. The big with the Ruck is we dont have to have tags or insurance. I figured out that in about 6 or 7 months it will pay for itself in the money that we saved in gas. Plus its fun to mess around on
