i have been doing a lot of searching and thinking about boosting my si. im just stuck on what to do and i was wondering if you guys could help me out(info, experience, any thing else). i love the sound of a turbo bov and the supercharger has a pretty cool sound too. the turbo can makes more power up top and all. supercharger is down low gains(rpm) and does not make alot of power to the turbo (but im not really looking for crazy power)
another thing was the brand (s/c= comptech or jackson or t/c=greddy or ?) i have heard good things about the comptech but im afraid of the wait on the reflash (i live in IL and its my dd) then i was thinking greddy but i have just heard some things about it to (turbo breaking or something?) jackson i think there is cutting involved
so any help or info would be great. thanks in advance

i also see a lot of threads like this but they all say different things. i just wanted the sri to just be siting around not that i was stretching for cash. im probably going to go with the comptech s/c because of the car being a dd and dont want to go over board.
hey i live an hour away from you! actually i go to bloomington sometimes to visit some friends at ISU.
back on the topic, have you considered what it'll cost to boost? you have to get it tuned.. then installing the turbocharger or supercharger. do you feel your SI is too slow?

thats pretty cool that you come to Bloomington (thats where i live). ya i know of a couple shops up in Chicago that do tunes i dont think there any around me but there. i did some research when i was going to boost(turbo) my old b16. for the too slow thing...i just want to have some power under the hood (more). thats why i was thinking of the comptech s/c because it is not a big overhaul of power but is something. or even the greddy turbo for better gas miles in town(low rpms). this is my project that im working on for the future and now so there is no rush to get any thing i just want to get all the info before i do any thing. everyone in this town is mostly American muscle guys and i want to show them that imports can put down some sweet power.

actually, the greddy kit doesnt make globs of power up top. take a look at their site and youll see that the turbos made to spool low but itll run out of breath up top.
also, no matter what you do, youll run into issues when you add FI to your car. i honesty dont think its for you if you arent ready for issues (which it seems like you arent). you also mentioned the "sound of a BOV and whine of a SC" in your post. just buy a fake me out BOV if you want to hear that sound because its obvious you dont have any idea what your getting into

its true that i dont know much about fi(right now),but thats why im doing research and reading up on forced induction. i have boosted my b16 before i bought my si so i have boosted before. plus i have friends that have boosted cars before so im not out of my way.
i like the sound and the feel of a turbo. have been in an evo before i built my b16 turbo set up. and i have not been in a supercharged car before i have only seen videos thats why i was asking for info on people that have the comptech/greddy because i have not done a supercharger before and my turbo kit was a custom set up.

Who really cares about what sound your FI setup makes? That should be last thing on the list of deciding factors for what setup to go with, imo.
What, do you want to impress someone with the sound?

no with the power of a four banger import. i was just saying i like the sound. im not a ricer. i go for power before i go for looks.
I have the comptech supercharger and love it. Someone mentioned the Greddy puts down more power, sorry but I have not seen it. I get 260 to the wheels with my supercharger, with stage one pulleys. Complex is getting 271 to the wheels with stage 2 pulleys. I have yet heard of the Greddy Turbo getting over 250 without tuning difficulties. Someone might be, but I have seen anything. The AJC turbo kit can get you a ton more HP, but I have not heard much from them lately. I heard there were some serious customer service issues with the company. Someone who use to post in this forum was getting 450 to the wheels with an AJC kit.
I was in the situation you are in now. I went with the Comptech SC for couple reasons. One, I live in California and the Comptech SC was Carb certified. Two, I did not want to have to run the engine to 7,000 RPM to get the extra juice. With my supercharger, I start feeling the boost at 3,500 rpm (much better for a daily driver). Last, Comptech was first and has the best reputation for quality.
I have had my supercharger now for 18 months. I have not had a single problem. The car runs perfect and screams when I want it too.
My .02 cents.

GalaxyGraySi 280whp, 219tq, 8 psi GReddy kit over on 8th. Daily driven. The T517z turbo is good to about 300 whp.

I bought mine off these guys. Lowest price I could find, they are an authorized distributor for Greddy. $2900 Better hurry, most manufacturers have raised their prices.

wow that is a great deal! How was the service and how long did it take for you to get it? Did you install it? If so, pics and numbers would be great!

Thanks for the video. That is actually the first one I have seen one with better then 250hp and sounding solid.
I need to get a camera and video my SI like that. It is hard to tell, but I does not seem like it climbs in speed any faster then mine. But again, it is hard to tell. Actually, forget I just said that, I just noticed your torque numbers.

Yes, stock internal. Will not do anything to the internals until I have programmable fuel tuning installed (Hondata).
As for mods, along with the SC, I have a AEM Cold Air, Comptech header (according to Comptech the Header was designed to be used with the SC, but does not have to be), Head shied and Greddy Evo II. The fuel tuning is a reflash from Hondata that is designed for Comptech SC.
My mechanics at Dynospot Racing (big Hondata distributor) spent 2 days working with Hondata on the reflash. I had one of the first supercharges Comptech released. Anyway, it was my impression that they did some fine tuning to the reflash. Whether or not this really really happened, I don't really know, all I know is the car runs awesome and put down 260hp to the wheel. The torque is not great, only 171 pounds-foot. This is one of the reasons I am waiting so patiently for whatever Hondata is going to release for a programmable fuel tuning application. I have great confidence in Hondata and want to do this right.
When Hondata does finally release something I plan on increasing my boost. At that time I will replace my springs, retainers and anything else needed to optimum performance and safety. I also want to add some type of air cooling. Inter-cooler would be the best, but I do not believe anyone has released a manifold for this engine yet.
Here is an older Picture.

Service was great, got it in less than three days priority. Yes I installed it.
Pics and numbers? Here's a couple of vids... I'm only running 4 psi on top end, with cat, and stock exhaust piping.

I don't want massive power, goals are 250 whp, I'm content. For what I paid it's been a great deal. $2900

Only thing I don't like about the kit is all the heat shielding in the back of the motor. Install on the SC looks cleaner IMO.
