I had been told not to bother with a test pipe unless you have a turbo application. I tried a test pipe anyways and noticed no difference (except for the stinky exhaust). So I took it off and am back to a regular old cat. I have been told that hi-flo cats are just a waste of money for the same reason, but I don't really know in this case?

I noticed a difference when I put on my 2.5" testpipe. I bought a resonated one so that my exhaust wouldn't be any louder then I had cat shields welded to it.

my answer: yes, I felt a difference on my old d16.
