took it for a ride last night noticed that the vtec wont engage at any rpm but at around 5800-6000 rpm you can slightly hear a change followed by a tingy metallic sound any suggestions, there is a small chance that 87 octane was put in it

 

5800-6000 is where the vtec is suppose to engage on a stock rsx-s, if the car is bone stock and no mods on it at all then it will be hard to hear it.

 

unfortunitly he has had an sri since day one and the vtec was pretty loud this just started happening, but that pingy mattalic noise idn

 

Put a full tank of 92, 93 or 94 octane gas in it.

Also, do an oil change and make sure there is enough oil as the switchover won't happen with a low oil level.

 

check your oil level like todd said vtec wont engage if you have a low oil level

 

is there a reason you felt the need to say EXACTLY what todd00 said one minute after he said it?
