Default Oil on Spark Plugs

What does it mean or what does it tell about ur engine when u take off the spark plug wire & plugs and the spark plug is wet with oil?

Last time i did my tune up thats how it was...spark plug was covered in oil like if it was dipped half way into oil.

Does this show a problem with the car? should a spark plug be dry when taken out?

you have blow by in the cylinders. (worn down piston rings) your best bet would be to get a re-build kit.

Uh no it doesn't..... if your plug and wires are wet with oil you need to replace the the spark plug tube seals in the valve cover they are leaking oil into the spark plug holes. Get the seals from the dealer with a new valve cover gasket. pull the valve cover off and change the tube seals (they are in the valve cover you will need 4) replace the valve cover gasket and reinstall. take out your plugs and use rag to soak up any oil from the tubes. you should be good to go

^^^ is a very common problem, especially with older B-Series motors.

I've solved many oil issues by changing these seals. Very common.

Yes, please start with the tube seals. Very cheap too.

Then check them periodically after that for any additional build-up.

GL!

I have the same problem. How much would it cost to fix at the dealer? Or is it better to do it myself? Oh and how much are the tube sealer?
Thanks

I never understood why people on forums ask these questions. What, do you want us to look it up for you? Just go to the website of your favorite auto store or call them. You can also call the dealer.

This is something you can do yourself. I can't really think of any reason to pay the dealer for mechanical work. As for how much the tubs sealers are, I would suggest checking out the Schucks website.
