anyone ever heard of this technique
i have a 99 Accord and the Maintenance Required light on my dash came on today. so i took it to a mechanic and the mechanic asked me if i got gas today. i said yes. then he asked me if my car has been driving fine and i said yes again. so he tells me to try this.. drive the car for a few days to see if the Maintenance light goes off. he said that some air may have gotten into the gas tank when i got gas and also told me to take the gas cap off, then put it back on, making sure it clicks several times.

all you have to do is reset it ...

2.Place the key in the ignition in the off position.
3.Press and hold the Select/Reset dial beneath the speedometer.
4.While continuing to hold the dial, start the car.
5.Continue to hold the dial for a few seconds until the light turns off

^^^ Bingo. Pretty much the light comes on when it is about due for routine maintenance. Reminder to do oil change, inspect air filter, check brake pad wear, and whatever else you feel like tinkering with. Nice to have with a busy lifestyle!
