Default Crank pulley came off!!!

Like the title stated my brother was driving my car and the crank pulley came off. Can anyone tell me how this happen? I know you guys are going to ask did I tightn the bolt to 130 ft lbs. My answer is no because I never took it off before, all I did was took my tranny out and resurface my flywheel and replace my pilot and throw out bearing. I didn't put the flywheel back on, my buddy did and I'm not sure how tight he did it. Only I can think of is that he didn't tighten the flywheel bolt and a couple bolt came off and vibrated the crank out. The crank pulley bolt flew off somewhere and the key is gone, don't know if that would damage anything in my motor because I wasn't driving it and n never had this happen to me. My brother said he turn off the car when he notice it. I'm just worried that it would have bent something. Can anyone tell me how this happen and what damages could have happen? Thanks.

haha **** that sucks, most people have a problem taking that damn thing off. the crank pulley charges the ac/ps/alternator, so im imagining these belts came off? I sure hope your timing belt didnt slip off (wouldn't imagine it did), if i did a lot of serious damage can occur. you need to get a new pulley (if you cant find it) and a new key that goes on the bolt.

You might want to get in there with a good light and a mirror and inspect the crank for dammage. Usually when the pulley comes off it farkles up the crank end.

If your crank snout got torn up you could be in for some pain and suffering. For instance, if the bolt came out, key worked out, and then the crank was spinning in your pulley for a while. I imagine your alternator light would have come on if that happened though. Definitely check your crank snout for damage (and the interior of the pulley if you still have it).

My brother did say that the battery light came on but I check the pulley n there's no damage to it, haven't checked the crank snout yet, felt it and don't seem like it's damage. So will I be able to use the D series crank bolt n key on my B motor?
