Default 96 ek hatch dx cluster problem

i have a ek dx hatch and its automatic. I went to the J/Y and bought a automatic ex cluster and everything works except temp and gas guage. The ex cluster has a slot for a green plug but my hatch doesnt have the green wire to plug up, could this be the problem.

The extra green plug is for the cruise control indicator and would not cause your problem. Loosen and retighten the screws behind the temp/fuel gauge.

If that doesn't work, you probably have a faulty temp/fuel gauge. A replacement is like $35 from the dealership.
