Default How long will the water pump last?

Hi again, this time im worrying my water pump...
my car done 69XXX miles now. last owner somehow changed timebelt on 26xxx miles, which done the job at Honda dealer, i dont know do they changed the water pump too.

if my maths is right, the timebelt should changed around 98XXX miles. BUT im worrying the water pump.

Therefore i am asking all you guys exp. when did u changed ur water pump or have you ever hear like water pump locked up etc(problem)?

should last at most 100k, just have a preset change schedule. change them both out @ 85k. you worry to much?

hah. i dont think you really have to worry about your water pump. honestly, it could give out tomorrow or even in a few years. no one really knows how long it will really last. if you are seriously worried about it, just change it

They are made to last at least as long as the timing belt and tensioner. I honestly wouldn't worry about it. If it goes, you'll end up with water coming out of the weep hole; they don't usually fail with a big boom (lock up or fly apart) so you should be fine.

Honestly, I'd really suspect the supposed timing belt change at 26,000 miles. I don't know why in the world ANYONE would replace a timing belt at that mileage. I'd probably just go ahead and change timing belt, water pump, and timing belt tensioner at 90,000 and you'll be just fine.

I'd just do all three at once. I went that route on my 95 Del Sol and got the belt, pump and tensioner for $145 shipped to my door, all oem honda parts.

I suspect my pump went 136k without failure (still looked/felt solid when replaced). If you decide to do the whole job replace everything, belt, tensioner, pump... consider cam/crank seals too if they look leaky but be careful not to scratch the cam/crank.

I'd just wait until is time to swap out the belt as long as your aren't overheating/leaking coolant/hearing noise or anything.
