Default Tranny Question for b20/vtec

I plan on getting a b20 longblock only along with a b16a2 or b18c1 head..I have 2 questions now...

I can get a GSR hydro tranny for about 400 - 700...Is a gsr tranny a good tranny for this swap??

Also - What pistons do you guys recommend?? In all the B20 posts i have read most of you guys have recommended better pistons...Im not looking to go crazy and build the block rite away...I would just like to put better pistons in while im swapping the heads...

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks in advance guys

GSR is probably the best tranny for the swap. The B16/Type R trannys have a close gear ratio that would not benefit you (run through your powerband way to fast). LS tranny's have a long gear ratio that really isn't a good choice unless you're going FI. Remember, CRVTEC engines have a healthy torque curve in the middle of the band, so you don't need to run at such high RPM's as a B16 or Type R.

I am using a GSR transmission on my CRVtec. I'm gonna keep using it after the turbo is installed also, it should work fine for me. I'm not keen on using the LS trans at this point. It is a judgment call.

If you want to put better pistons in you might as well do the whole thing correctly. LSVtecs and CRVtecs are not the best when thrown together. You can make a list of all the high points with some quick searching.

Good luck with your project
