clicking noise even after oil changed and rocket arm checked
Hello to all fellow civic owner, im new to civic and B18C engine.
Im driving a UKDM MB6, bought the car week ago. 1st it have small clicking noise when idle , i though is oil or rocket arm doing it, after i checked my self, the gap at rocket arm are fine. ign timing are fine, knock signal is normal.
So im bit confuse now..becoz VTEC each arm have 1 high lift arm and low lift arm.(right?) will it be the high lift arm are not "linked" when idle. which produce these noise?
PS. when driving can't hear it, since really small noise. And how offen do you guys check the rocket arm space for B16/18 Engine?
Thank you for info and looking/reading
Love VTEC hehehee.......

how was your oil level before you changed it? it sounds like a valve tapping, im sure. my motor clicked for a while, and i adjusted the valves, it turned out to be oil starvation and threw a rod.
Could be valve lash, piston slap, wrist pin, injector.... the list goes on. Get a mechanics stethascope at Harbor Freight for $5 and probe around. Try some synthetic oil, Mobil1 quieted my engine quite a bit. After some miles these engines just get noisy. Mine ticks like crazy when its cold, then smooths out after 6-7 minutes (but you can always hear a little tap now and then). Don't be afraid to adjust your valves a little on the tight side (but not TOO tight!).
