Default Rode to Big Bear with a friend then detailed the bikes!! (56k... 20 pics)

So today my friend and I decided to head up to Big Bear lake to grab some lunch. His bike is the 06 1krr.

Afterwards we went over to another buddy's house and decided to detail the bikes since I wasnt going to be riding this weekend and ive been dying to clean my bike since i bought it.

Here are the pics. I did the best i could with a point and shoot. Enjoy!

BTW: He is aware he needs a fender eliminator really bad.

Up at bear lake

Back at my friends house: Full detailing

The 1krr

The bikes together after the detailing

Overall the day was very successful.

i don't know about calling that "detailing" i'd call it washing. what roads did you ride up there? i've been meaning to hit up the 38, 330, and 18.

B.B. is a very nice ride depending on how you go.... there can be very high average speeds associated with that trip despite it being a mountain roads

big bear can be [freak]in crazy. the first part of the 18 is no joke--since it's 4 lanes wide for about 10 miles. i've got some moments from riding that road--scraping peg at 90 mph is gnarly.

but i like the ride. it's a lot of fun. the 330 and the 38 are also worth checking out. the last time i rode big bear i did a crazy 250 mile ACH-AFH-Wrightwood-Big Bear trek that can be then linked to Idyllwild and Ortega if you've got the buns for it.

Idyllwild is another fun road. the first section going up the mountain is beautiful. traffic can be a bitch since there's a lot of RV's that head up there, but it's a nice ride. Once you get closer to Idyllwild (the city) the road gets dirty and not so fun--but the 74 in either direction is fun. 74 east takes you to Palm Desert (idyllwild to Palm Desert is called Pines to Palms) and the 74 west takes you to Hemet.

i usually never go up the 330, or the 38 due to traffic. i like to take advantage of the 2 lanes on the 18.. and usually book it up to crestline pretty quick.

ive had better luck coming down the 330 than the 38. you always get stuck behind a yahoo on the 38. but i guess if your with a group of people.. racing down the mountain isn't necessary. lol

lol sounds good to me. we should start a thread. i prefer to take the 330 though because its much more technical than the 18.

and as far as traffic goes, there is barely any on the weekdays

I hate all of you.

I have to ride an hour to get to any decent riding......there are a FEW nice places locally but it is secluded to small stretches and isn't any fun. I don't like going to Deals Gap anymore due to the fact that there are usually 2341413414 cops stked out ready to impound any bike they can. I usually hit up Chimney Rock up towards Tennessee or Mountain View road in Gastonia.

I am about to make it worse on myself and move back to Charleston and have nothing but flat flat and very straight roads.

yeah, mountain view road is really fun. There are descending radius turns and all. I regularly drag a knee every time I go there. It is usually not intentional but it happens. The road is about 15 miles long and it connects to another twisty road and goes on for another 30 miles or so. It is a really fun ride.

As for Charleston, the best thing that there is to ride around there is the clover on I-26 and I-526 overpass. That and you can make a trip out to Frances Biedler National Forest. There are some fun turns there.

That sounds good. Might have to check it out. The only really fun road that i found is in Chester SC but its just in the state park. Its maybe a mile long or so, but just about half of the corners you can drag a knee but i don't think ill be doing that without knee protection..lol

Is that mountain view rd off of hickery grove rd? I'm lookin on google maps but it shows it as basically a straight road and being a dead end? Maybe I'm looking at wrong road or something? lol

I was just there this memorial weekend. It was soooooo freaking cold and misty. We rented a pontoon and went fishing by the observatory. It was 42* with wind chill and the mist was nuts! Spent $300 to rent the pontoon and caught one trout. A $300 trout haha. It started to warm up on Monday. hope it was good for you guys.
