Default Clicking from underdash

Hey everyone I have searched all the topics and have tried alot of your suggestions. But I have a little different. I have a 1996 GSR, engine was swapped about three months ago to a 1.6 over the last week or so i have been having a tach jumping problem and a clicking coming from under the dash. The tach jumping has been random and speratic. It makes the engine miss and has killed the engine before. the clicking happens only when i am moving when i stop the clicking stops. the dizzy is brand new and i check the connections to the icm and all is fine. I have also went through and redone the grounds in the engine bay.

Please if you have any idea that would be great. Thanks all

my guess would be that you have a hot wire under there grounding out. you should find it a.s.a.p before it causes major damage.

It sounds like a relay clicking rapidly. It is definetly not the main relay though i checked that out just not and its fine. Well at least i heard the clicking and was holding the main relay and could not feel it clicking as i could when it did the two clicks when you turn the car on. so not sure. No smell of burning wires and no smoke. I think if it was a shorting wire it wouldn't be so constant. but good pointer i will keep that in mind as I continue to look for the problem.

I have a clicking sound as well, which side does it come from? The left side, like mine? My Tach jumps erratically before reaching full operating temp, but I guess it's because the previous owner did something and the distributor is almost ully advanced.

For me, the clicking sound is erractic, and doesn't depend on whether I'm moving or not, it's just random. It sounds like the blinker ticking too, but it' snot that. Had it for two months, nothing bad happened so far.

well why don't you take out all relays you don't need for the car to start as process of elimination...also fuses under the engine bay for a/c and such...
