Default 87 CRX swap queastions...

I'm a swap novice and I know 85-87 CRX's are pains to do any swaps etc. I was wondering if it's physically possible to swap an 88 CRX Si motor into an 87 CRX? I'm not 100% sure if the '87 is fuel injected or not, I believe both carberated and fuel injected motors were avaibale in the '87's. So any information on both would be helpful. I'm checking for a friend of mine that picked up the CRX for free and I have a motor for him if we can get it to work.
Thanks a lot.

The easiest swap would be a carbed ZC into the non FI CRXs; next would be the '86-'87 Integra motors into the FI CRXs.

I converted my '84 CRX into FI and swapped in an '87 Integra drivetrain.

If I get a JDM ZC and use my stock Si tranny, do I still need to change axles/spindles?

why don't you just buy a newer version of what you have so that you can make it look good?

Well this guy has a 87 crx. You can't even make it look good Untill you have at least an 88. It would be less of a hassle for him if he just got a reasonable price and a used 88-91 Crx and made it look nice and do sh*t to the engine then.

If the car your friend got is fuel injected then his motor options are very open. He can go with the brown top ZC or an 86-89 integra which both of them bolt in. He can also go B series utilizing a mount kit. If its carbed then the best way to go is swap it all over to fuel injection. Personally i think its not worth trying to fool with the carbed motor. Change it over to FI and throw a Bseries in it. And to whoever said get rid of it for something '88 or newer so it can look good, Ive seen many good looking 3rd gen civics and 1st gen crx's. Yes there arent many bodykits and noone makes clears but who gives a **** about that. Put a Bseries in that little light car and you can go around and kick the **** out of any 4th gen wiht a bodykit and clears. IM two.oh he has an '87 Si with B20vtec his car is nice!!
