Default Attempted Theft of 616!

Another NOVA attempted R theft.
I was up at 4:10am and heard a car outside on the street, at first I didnt think anything of it, then after hearing the same car idle for over 5 minutes I decided to take a look. Grab my shoes and my keys, head out the front door and I see a guy on the sidewalk in front of my house, another one over by a 98up Blue Integra and look over at my car and see my dome light on and someone in my car! I yell.. "Whats going on guy's?" and they yell out to the other guy and they jump into the other integra. I run over to my motorcycle jumped on it and chased em down. Caught up to them a few hundred yards from my house. I got the plate #, yelled out "YALL ARE FUCKED" and turn back to my house. I got em right!?!? Nope

Ran inside, called the cops, told em the story.
20 minutes later a cop rolls up, takes down my info and they run the tags on the other integra. They had another cop go to that persons house and check things out. The car wasnt there.. The resident wakes up from the police activity outside, they come out and apparently the Blue LS was their car and had just been stolen.

These guys obviously knew how to steal cars and werent after anything else b/c nothing from inside the car was taken.

616 dodges the bullet tonight.
What now?

I'd pick me up one of the brightest, motion sensing spotlights out there, and stick it right in front of my parking space. Now might also be a good time to evaluate your security system.... LoJack anyone?

Good lookin out! I wonder if you'd chased em long enough to get the cops on you guys, if you'd gotten in trouble for it. Like a citizens arrest.

Hmm.

for those who are wondering how they got in.

they pried the window glass away from the door frame on the drivers side and used something to press the door lock switch. for those that havent done it yet. take out the door handle and disconnect the power the lock harness.

yeah, but i would imagine they would just break the light. my dumbass doesnt have any kinda security.. i guess ive gotta go buy an alarm now. (lol, like that will really stop em)

possibly, i didnt have my helmet so i didnt wanna do anything too crazy. my dumbass thought all i had to do was get their license plate and they'd be caught.. didnt even think they would be in a stolen car.
i shoulda done something more than i did..... now I guess Im going to have to put the R away for a while again

Now that I think about it, doing more could have been a really BAD idea. You being on a bike, would not be a safe place when chasing a group of people who are facing jail time.... especially w/o your helmet.

You did all you could, at least you were lucky enough to be able to keep your R.

I give you props for chasing them down. I'd make sure you are 100% positive that the owner of the blue integra is not involved. There could be some elaborate palnning behind these thefts. I guess it's up to the cops to figure that out though.

Sorry to hear that man. Good SAVE though.. Could you imagine if you were not awake and didn't hear anything?? Car would most likely be gone. Definitely invest in a good security system/alarm. Try and find a safer parking space if possible. Careful, I agree these ***********/THIEVES will eventually be back..

Damn, trust me on this... they know where you live, put that car under lockdown (since you have a bike), or get a ridiculous security system. Be prepared to spend 300-600 on a good alarm, and another 400 (I'm guessing) on LoJack.

just hope they don't steal a tow truck next... a locking car cover w/ good alarm and pager should do u well... next time ur up late and someone touches your car you'll know it's ur... it's nice when u hear the sounds of a random car alarm in the background to know immediately if it is your car or not. -rob

I'd actually either switch to RS handles or take out the silver tab completely. If you just disable them, thievies may get frustrated and start smashing instead of moving on. They don't see the tabs, they'll have to break **** to get in, and they may just let it slide.

yeah i was thinkin they would be back soon.. but on the otherhand, now that they know its being watched carefully and how close they were to being caught they would just be complete idiots to come back for it.
