Default Are all d series ac compressors the same

As stated in topic I was wondering if all d series ac compressors are the same. Someone is selling a 96 ac compressor and I was wondering if it would fit on my 93 hatch

it shouldnt matter as long as you recharge your kit. from what i've heard r134 takes more energy to cool than r12, so a compressor designed for r134 might have a slight cooling advantage.

the reason I ask is because I want to put a 96 d16 compressor into a 93 EG. the system is designed for R12 but the compressor takes 134. will it work? bump

The compressor doesn't really required a certain type of freon that is in there. The only part that you need to change is the receiver/dryer bottle to either a R134 or an R12 whichever freon you planning to use. This unit is located near the left headlight and has two pipe connects to it and bolted to the chassis.
