b16a top out?
Im gonna get a b16a1 in my 88 hf crx and i was wondering what will it top out at...some people said it depends and yadda yadda, but on average what is the top speed of a b16????? thnx
112? dont tell me ure serious...what does a jdm b16a really top out at dont scare me
True, it tops out at 112. Question: How often do you reach 112 when running at the track or autocrossing? Answer: Unless you have a 10-11 second car, never.
If you're planning on running a b16 road racing car, removing the speed limiter would probably be a good idea.
I've run into the speed limiter once, on an empty freeway at night. Other than that one time, it doesn't even enter into my thoughts.

I clip that quite often on the highway. I guess when you don't have to down shift out of fifth and vtec hits it's hard to back away. Pulls like a son-a-bitch untill the limiter stops the fun.

LOL. It's scary the first time you hit that thing... On my way to the Dyno Day a few months back, and hit it on I-4. I though the B16 had enough of my Tom Foolery, and decided to blow on me... I've only hit it once since then though.

i got an 88 crx si with a b16a1 and a stock pr3 ecu. i topped out at 127mph@7600 rpm. getting it chipped now for fuel and timing. heart was pounding at that speed though in that small of a car. i hit 93 mph @ 13.88 at track for my best time so far this year with engine.
i run into this problem (speedlimiter) every singleday maybe at least 3- or 4 times,
we have a brand new tollway, 4 lanes wide each direction, as soon as i leave the toll booth i rip through the gears and right at the top of 4th i look at the speedometer and realize whats about to happen then i let off.
but its good that the limiter is there because thats about what my tires are rated for and i dont need to have a blowout at plus triple digit speeds.
