Default oil consumption

Well, I went to the track with the dipstick reading completely full. I made 8 passes, drove home and sat on my ***. Next day, I checked the oil and it was a litte bit lower. Not drastically lower or anyting like that, maybe one eigth down or so. Is this normal?? Did a compression test, reads 213-217 across the motor, plus there is no blue smoke at all. Just a little bit of whitish smoke, but not the antifreeze type of smoke. I filled it up this morning and check it after 10 miles or so, and it was the same. Am I just being paranoid?

I put a pint every time I fill up the gas tank, so don't worry

I have a new rebuilt motor and I burn a little less than half a quart every 40 miles or so. It's blowing blue smoke, when I pull the car out of my garage after it's warmed up the blue smoke would clog the street, then it stops a min later.

mr. s, what motor are you running?

fyi, vtec motors are notorious for burning oil, esp. synthetic...

yeah i was wondering about that
my engine burns like a 1/4 qt every 500-1000 miles
theres no visible oil leak, besides the valve cover striped bolt that cryies, no burn oil... pistons rings, seals and everything its new when rebuilded, when i took head off none vavle seals where leaking, no bad headgasket, cylinders are good .. it just consumes alil... and i tought i had a problem

A compression won't necessarily mean you aren't burning oil. You should do a leak down test and check your valve seals.

my cousin, who works at bell acura in phoenix said that VTEC motors are known for burning a little oil(as breaka said). the new nissan spec v's have a problem with burning oil because thier variable valve timing is similar to vtec. i have heard of a few people driving the poo out of their spec v's, burning all the oil and the engine goes dead. i guess its happen quite a few times. anyway, i wouldnt worry about a little minor oil consumption; its just your vteckhc!

Jebus that's some old thread I should reply since you asked me a question hehe, better late than never

I was actually, since I sold my crx in august last year, but yeah I was blowing blue smoke like you wouldn't beleive it. I was in crxmtl club at that time (www.crxmtl.com) and everyone was complaining about the smell when we were riding hehhe, so often I had to go last .

I'm glad I sold it, I love my Ek now

Keep in mind 8 passes down the 1320 at full throttle is beating the motor, so yeah it's gonna burn a little oil.

Well, it was weird cuz I filled it, and then it never went down again, even after going to the track again. Plus my brothers B16's oil level never goes down, even after a day at the track [shrugs]
