Help! Oil Leak 2000 Accord 4cly Oil Pan Info Pls
I switched from 10w 30 to 30w oil, to try to take control of excess oil consumption/leak. Initially believed oil loss was due to consumption - Pcv valve & air filter were replaced vacuum line OK. Engine light on - 4 qts within 48 hrs was required. Oil was changed. Fella says main bearing leak??? I told him to put in 30W oil. In cleanining engine tonight I noticed a place in the oil pan where a bolt may have come free.
My question is this how many bolts go into the oil pan? Car has 80K miles and timing belt was recently changed.
Many Thanks.

There's usually a bolt every 1/2 inch or so to seal the oil pan. You may try to put a bolt in there but the seal might be gone. An oil pan drop, clean off old seal, put on new seal, isn't out of the question. Not too hard, just time consuming

should be 2 nuts (#32) and 16 bolts (#39)
Also check up further behind on the block, above the oil filter just past the black coolant pipe. The oil pressure sending unit (#15 in the diagram above) is there and it is known to leak and can leak a lot.
