Default how to mesure the "hardness" of the cam lobes?

Since last year, I saw 2 cam pairs with premature wearing

I want to mesure the steel hardness

Which tool is required to do it?

Even non destructive testing will leave a mark, so you better get a set you don't plan on using. You'll have to use a hardness tester, this is not a handheld tool
Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, etc.
