STIFF SHIFTING - 93 SI manual
In 96 I bought a new vtec twin cam del sol, wished I'd never sold it, just bought a 93 SI manual, but the gear shift (manual) is very very hard, no crunching or weird noises, just really hard to get in/out of gear when shifting normally. Clutch seems to work fine, though this car has 150k on it, has been well loved. is there a fix or does it need a rebuilt gearbox, are the syncro's on these prone to wear at this milage and maybe cause this stiffness ? ? or is there some linkage ajustments or lubrication I should know about.
the linkage is not at all sloppy, just tight shifting.
Can the manual transmisson be changed without removing the engine ?

pull your shifter off and try lubing the bushing with lithium grease, i had the same thing on my ej1 and after that it shifted much smoother

Before you do anything else - except maybe the suggestion above...
Drain your tranny and fill it with Redline MTL (thin-ish) or Redline MT-90 (thick-ish).
The former owner probably put 80W/90 gear oil in it, or motor oil - who knows?!?!?
I *think* you will be shocked at the difference! Redline tranny oil will make a CiViC shift like a Ferrari...

Probably the best tip here. Nice, BDC!
However,,, I am not sure you will ever acheive the Ferrari like shifting,, but keep imagining! hehe,, I do!
