so for the past couple weeks ive noticed that my right side head light flickers....i didn't think anything of it until my boss told me one day that i had a headlight out... so i turn the lights off and back on again and they come on fine...about 30 seconds later the light starts to flicker and goes out...i turn the headlights off then back on and they came on fine again, flicker, and then went out...i honestly don't think it's a bulb, but i want to make sure it is the ballast before i drop 300 dollars to fix it...any input is appreciated...and for the record the car is an 01 AP1

 

that does sound like a ballast going bad, but u can buy a used ballast for cheaper.. the AP1 ballast especially because they are hard to use for retrofitters. in the end a OEM ballast is an OEM ballast IIRC. 12V power and 35w output. good luck.

the funny thing is i called honda and spoke to a tech and he said out of all the s2000's he has seen come into the dealership, he has seen one headlight go out and one ballast go out...so i guess i just have that shitty kind of luck...but if you know anyone who has a ballast laying around let me knoe lol

 

I havent had this problem but its either your bulb or ballast. Nothing else I can tell you my friend. Try to find one at your local junkyard I got mines from a junkyard in florida for 85 bucks and 10 bucks shipping.

yea i dont think it's a bulb just because it keeps coming back on

 

just buy a new pair, i dont even know why people buy used hid or light bulb, half of the time the supposely "new" one is in worse condition than the one you have now

 

Had my ballast go bad because the lights were not sealed properly and got water in the light so the condensation got into the ballast. I was able to find a new OEM ballast on ebay for about $120.

 

i'm gonna try to do a write up on a budget ebay kit wired in. I have a ballast going bad on my 00

 

so this is weird.. my one headlight was flickering.. and now it hasn't gone out once in almost two weeks... we'll see..
