My Volvo has factory 8" subs in the rear package shelf. I'm kicking around the idea of swapping these out for aftermarket speakers to tighten things up a little bit. Point is - you can only really hear the factory subs on bass-intensive music. They really don't add much in the way of "fill" for normal rock, etc.

Must be free-air, as I don't think I can do much in the way of enclosures. Low power need would help as well, as I want to avoid adding an amp. Stock head unit is allegedly one of the "high power" decks you see on other Euro cars.

Ideas? Suggestions?

 

Kicker makes an 8" Free Air sub. Look into that...

 

Look into the JL IB series.....they are "infinate baffle" ( free air) types. And if my memory is correct...your s70 has an oem aplifiied system. Just my .02

 

Not my system. The next level up (with cd changer) included the external amps
