I'm trying to remove my transmission from my engine, d15b8, and it appears to be stuck to the engine block. I removed the five housing bolts... is there something that I am missing or is there a trick to get it unstuck? I tried beating it with a rubber mallet.. BTW, the engine is out of the car.

Lift up on the trans housing a little while beating so it comes off straight. It's going to take some wiggling to get it to come loose. I've even used pry bars in extreme cases, but be careful where you use them.

 

Thanks! Turns out there's a bolt under the starter that was holding it

 

so you got it off? i was just about to recommend checking there, i just did my second tranny swap

 

lols.. you guys are too fUnny.. before all else, make sure ALL the bolts off, cause life would be much easier if they were!.. but hopfully you got it apart from one another!!..
