Erratic idle from 1000 to 3000 rpm continuously after skunk2 pro series IM swap
I have a 1998 integra gsr with a obd2a ecu. Yesterday I swapped my stock intake manifold for a skunk2 manifold. Car ran fine before swap. Now when car is turned on. It first revs to 4000 rpm and then drops to 1000. Right after dropping to 1000 rpms it constanly bounces up and down between 1000 and 3000 rpm. I have been told that i could have a vacuum leak. But I checked everything out. Any suggestions or help would be very beneficial.
yeah you have a vacuum leak or have vacuum lines not hooked up right. did you put a new IM gasket on? if so, did you get all of the old one off and the surface clean and smooth?
Yea i did clean the stock gasket off. I'm using a hondata gasket. If the the head isn't clean and smooth. That could cause a leak to idle that erratically??
ya there would be a leak in between the IM and the Head.
But probably you mixed up the vacuum lines. Happens all the time if you don't label them or know where they go.

Well I compared it to a type r intake manifold on my cousins eg. His way is set up the same way.... so... i really don't know. And if its any help i don't think i have a ftiv...
I already tried that.. didn't work out so great. I was told my IACV could be dirty. So i cleaned it out with carb cleaner. And waited for it to dry. And i still have the same problem. So far no changes in the idle...

make sure you got off all of the old IM gasket.. you could have a bad seal and possibly get coolant into a cylinder. this happened to me and caused many problems
oo wow... that sounds like it could be very serious... I'll make sure to do that. Thanks for the info. Also when i disconnected my IACV my car idle at 1000 and sounded like a heart beat. When i hook it up it bounces between 1000 and 3000 rpm
did you torque down the manifold bolts well enough? sounds like a vacuum leak. If you hear any whistling or anything unusual then you have a vacuum leak. just double check everything bro

Ditto on this answer.

Yea thats what i plan on doing. Cause everything is hooked up fine. But i am going to take off the manifold and redo everything just to make sure nothings missing.
If you have the same problem when you put everything back together try using throttle body cleaner and spray all of the vac lines individually and see if idle goes up like a rev when you find a hose that does that replace it.... If nothing check your map sensor on the throttle body and also throttle body gasket could do that too. Did you replace that too?
The throttle body gasket i did not replace. Because it looked like it was in good condition.
make sure you put the o-ring back on the top sensor...i forgot to put mine back on and got mad idle/fuel smelling problems.
All my vac lines are good. I think i solved the problem. I had a few little pieces of my old gasket still on the head. So i took a razor blade and 1500 grit sandpaper and smoothen it out. My idle is now at 1k. BUT now when i put my Fuel Pressure Regulator on. It shoots out fuel under it. Is there supposed to be a gasket on that... Cause i don't remember and i can't seem to find it if it did
Well i figured out why my FPR is leaking.... I just noticed that the flange of it where it bolts down is cracked...
try adjusting the throttle screws on the tb. we just had this problem on my friends civic. thought it was the iac change it and still had problems. then we tried adjusting the screw above the tb opening and that caused it to idle correctly.
Yea I've tried that. I really wish that was the problem. But I had little pieces of my old gasket on my head. So I cleaned it off with a razor blade. And then I sanded it down with 1500 grit sandpaper. Now its smooth as a babies butt. But after doing all that. My fuel pressure regulator cracked on me....
Yea i thought about a new fuel rail. But i rather just get my car running again...
