Default help with struts

okay yesterday i did an oil change on my car, and so i lifted my car up on the drivers side. I was done with the oil change and put everything back together and then i put the car down and when i try to close the hood it wouldnt shut and i look and see my strut on my passanger side sticking up. I took the strut out and looked at it and tightened it up and put it back and the same thing happend it would not go down. any help
by the way i have a 91 acura integra
and tokico blue struts

The shock is installed from the bottom. Inspect the shock tower for damage. Perhaps you should post a picture.

That fat washer on top is suppose to go on before the strut tower dust cover.

Is part of the shock rod rough like a piece has broken? To me it looks like a welded collar has broken free and the shock needs to be replaced. Part 12 from the diagram would rest on that missing collar.

haha wow...sry it's funny...
but yea if the "shaft of the strut, shiny metal, is dinged up; when it penetrates the strut it will rip it

its a shock. just so you all know. it looks like its broken, especially if you didnt touch it while you under the car.
