i have a 2001 honda accord and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to program the key fob i just got for it

 

I dug up a S/B from 98
Says to turn on the ignition; then within 5 seconds press the lock button on the key fob, within 5 seconds shut off the ignition.
Repeat this 3 times

 

i tried turning it on and off but it did not work does it matter that i got the key fob out of another accord and it was already programmed.

 

Does the little light on the key fob turn on when you press the lock/unlock button?.
What year/trim Accord did the key fob come from?
What trim level is your Accord?
Can you read the Part number on the back of the key fob?
I'll go log on to ISIS if I have correct info to deal with

 

yes the light comes on when i hit the buttons but i dont know the exact year or trim it came from i know it was between 98 and 02 not sure if that helps its going to a 01 accord LX and the code on the back of the key fob is KOBUTAH2T
