Default coolant overflow reservoir question

Hey guys
In an effort to save space I just switched the radiator in my 83 vw rabbit to one from a civic.
We had to chop and weld some stuff on it to work but it fits great now

The civic radiator uses an overflow bottle a lil bit diferently than the vw does..
I picked up a Billet 1 pint overflow bottle

But my questions are:
An a factory overflow bottle does the cap have a tube that goes all the way down in the bottle or does it just pour in?
B: Is 1 pint big enough for this?

probably should researched this a lil bit prior to buying the part.. any help is greatly appreciated

The hose has to go all the way to the bottom so that the radiator can suck the coolant back in.

I'm not sure what the volume of the factory resevoir is but 1 pint sounds pretty close.

Not sure about 1 pint, mine's probably a good solid quarter gallon, maybe 2 or so pints, maybe a little more.

It shouldn't matter as long as it's full when it's going through the system (engine running)
