why.........
Because it's an entry level fuel efficient economy car with a little extra performance for people like me and you. Sure you have to pay a couple bucks more than someone with regular 87 octane, but you're getting 30+ miles to the gallon. I don't see what you're b_tching about.
That is exactly why I bought the EX....I test drove both but when I saw that it gets 5 less MPG and needed premium I went for the 140 horsepower EX. I average around 35 MPG which is awesome for a regular car that isn't a hybrid.....I have my muscle cars for the performance cause lets be honest you are not buying a Civic cause you want performance.

This economy is in trouble and there's really nothing we can do about it. And oil prices are probably at the root of the problem.
And there's already experts predicting $15/gallon for gas prices in the future.
So deal with it. WE'RE SCREWED unless we have a major overhaul in technological developments....like SOON.

negative...YOU can do that if you like.
11:1 comp and 87 is not a good mix. i wouldn't bet my motor on it

It seriously comes out to 2-3 more bucks per fill up. I personally fill up twice a month. 72 bucks more a year. Seriously, just eat out 1 fewer time per month. $2-3 more per fill up isn't that much, and you can't put a price on the enjoyment you get from your Si.
Correction, $4.45 a gallon, went up 10 cents a gallon last night.
Your luck, "Super +" is $4.35 a gallon where I live. 100 octane is $7.25 a gallon. I use a mix because of the Supercharger (not needed, but safer).
Anyway, the price of gas is one of the reasons my SI stays in the garage most the time.

Geez if you guys are making this big a deal about gas prices now, i would love to see your faces a year or two from now when it REALLY starts to sky-rocket.
Meanwhile all of the corporate big time oil company executives will be reaping the benefits driving their Ferraris and Porsches, laughing at you from the other side of their 70" plasma screens in their acre-sized houses.
God bless America.

Capitalism at its finest
Lets face it, we drive Civics, we're the last ones to be bitching lol. Here, premium is 10cents or so more than regular. Comes out to be like a $1.20 more for a premium fill-up

Were all still gonna complain regardless. All though we have somewhat of an advantage driving Civic cars, it still pisses me off that what now costs $45 to fill up would have only cost less than $20 eight years ago right before Bush took office.
$100 a month wasted...a good chunk of which im sure is going into the pocket of people such as the CEO of Exxon and his $2 million a year salary.
