Bought 94 EX need advice what to do about engine
I today purchased a 94 EX coupe and need advice about what to do about the engine it is knocking (and yes I knew this when i bought it). I wanted to know if it would be easier to just put in a good motor or freshen up the short block or just bearings and turn the crank. I didnt see a cloud of smoke when he started it just the knock and he did say they just put the head back on it when this started. also what should i expect to spend Ill be doing it myself.
New motor is easier for a beginner. Tough both ways though. Expect 1-2 weeks to a month down time (if you're a beginner or mechanically inclined.). Pro's can do it in 6hrs to 2 days. You'll spend about $200-700 for new engine and parts. Than you can rebuild the old engine after the new one is installed.
Please check the forums next time. I'm sure this is answered a lot.
