Default LOST POWER AFTER SKUNK2 TB INSTALL....HELP!!!???

motor is b16a2...origional in 99 si. ... ok...here it is. the motor has basic stuff, clutch flywheel cai exhaust fpr fuel rail and p28 chipped. this motor was blessed. would just rip through the gears... so i decided to add a little more..and put on a itr intake manifold along with 68mm skunk2 throttle body...

well after doing this install...i drove the car and it felt like it has LOST power..big time at low to mid range...even at top end tho it is lagging! so...i then added 2000 itr cams w/skunk2 cam gears....took the car out...popped vtec loud as hell..but didnt really go anywhere...

so then i took the car and had it tuned on hondata s200...made 167whp...which is good i think...bu tthe car still feels as tho it is lagging through the gears!!! it feels like it made more power and torque with the stock tb, mani, and cams...why is this??? anyone please....

Default FV-QR

Are you sure you don't have a massive vacuum leak from the gaskets?

Because the fact that you're making 167 with about 2 grand dumped into the motor is lame.

i am pretty sure theres no major leaks...wouldn't it be vaccuming if there was a leak???

167 to the wheels on a stock b16 isnt that bad btw...but it should/could be more

167whp is good for a b16. They don't make a lot of torque to begin with and then with a shitty match up on your manifold ports and too big of a tb your torque curve just fell off. Instead of asking others why don't you try putting the stock tb back on and see if that helps? Post back.

In fact I bet your b16 is making more whp than my untuned jdm gsr.

so you think its the tb and not the itr manifold??? i was thinking that as well... my torque definately seems to have plummeted since the change. the whp is there...the torque was 109 on the dyno/tune!

also, wuts wierd on the skunks2 tb...it seems like the throttle cable is not able to open the butterfly up all the way..its as though it only opens it 2/3's of the way...

idk...i will try throwing the stock tb onto the itr manifold this weekend and re-post. any other ideas suggestions in the mean time would be great! thnx every 1

a stock b16 makes 130-140 MAX on a dyno, 167 is definitely pretty decent. theres a reason why its called the torqueless wonder

yea>.definately..im just sayin..i drive the car everyday..cruise wit my buddies that are runnin h-duece in eg hatch..and gsr in crx...and i would actually keep with them before...now my torque is gone! the whp is there..but i need to bump up some torque b/c even with the hp,...its not really going anywhere..not like it used to at least....

thnx for the props on whp tho.

The first thing you need to do is adjust the throttle cable if its not opening all of the way. Have a friend floor the car (with it off obviously) and make sure its opening up all of the way.

I think the ITR intake manifold is hurting you more than the TB.

Not talking ****, was just curious. Your avatar is of your Si ......... wow, touchy.

And if you've got a 700+ whp car, why can't you figure out why your Si is slow?

lmao...ya got me. lol. u can believe me or not..i dont relaly care. i've never really effed around with n/a motors. im tryin to learn more. i'm going to assume that the larger tb even tho it has itr cams..is what is causing the loss in torque..

but i've always heard more flow along with a good tune will provide results...but it doesnt seem to be the case here....?

yea yesterday...i put the itr manifold on..with the skunk2 tb..and 2000 itr cams and skunk2 cam gears..1 degree advance on intake. 1 degree retard on exhaust. ...took it yesterday and got tuned on p28 wiht hondata s200...

the whp is there...but the torque is horrible. there was more torque before i did the manifold/tb...for sure. although it wasnt dynoed...i can tell the difference a lot

ur throttle body is too big for ur all motor set-up, 68mm would be good if ur built, but with just those add-ons, try getting the type r throttle body or some 65mm ones, it'll be better. your type r manifold should help you out more on top end, but if i were you, i would've gotten the skunk2 pro-series manifold instead of the type r manifold.

im gona agree with you on the trottle body..but the manifold i disagree. itr manifold actually make better numbers on the dyno that the skunk 2's...

but good advice none the less..

how bout h22 tb..anyone got info on that?
