Has anyone had experience with a Short Shifter in their accord? I want to install one, and I'm wondiering how people are liking it. Also, what are some good manufacturers?

thanks

I have a Neuspeed. It works, 'nuff said. Reduced my throw 25% or so, but definitely overpriced at $130 (or whatever it was). Just remember, Honda trannies are only designed to shift so fast.

the neuspeed is actually a very high quality product. but so is the b&m and its only about 70$. the b&m is also adjustable... you can choose how short you want it.

It seems that I have to get the short shift adapter...can someone explain to me how this is different, and its advantages and disadvantages against replacing the actual shift lever.

thanks

you just move the point to which the cable is bolted to the adapter. i think there are 3 different spots... its just a hex nut.

Sracer: yes, for the accords/preludes you buy a short shift adapter because our trans use cables. you were thinking of buying the short shift lever which is for civics and such which use hydro trans.

you can buy a prelude shift lever and replace your accord lever with that. that will make the lever a bit shorter. then you need to buy a short shift adapter... the neuspeed or b&m is what i recommend. they are both billet aluminum pieces.

How much would it cost me to replace my shift lever with a new Prelude one...which year would I use? Is it a hassle to order? Is the Short Shift Kit different for the Prelude than the Accord?

Also, would I then I have to change the shift boot as well?

thanks again

So for my 99EX, if I were to replace mine with a prelude one...what exactly would i need...The short shift adaper, the new prelude lever (what year)?

anything else i have to worry about? would i have to replace the shift boot? also, how much shorter is the length of the lever itself...would it be worth the hassle and time?

thanks all

sracer: i have never seen the prelude lever swap done on a newer model. it should work but i dont want to say it would for sure... someone else can probably tell you. but look at that summit racing link i posted, for 98-99 are even cheaper... i say just go for the adapter...

92-96 lude shifter in a 90-97 is a nice improvement in shift feel. I rather just learn to shift fast on my own.

I freaking love my lude lever i wouldnt trade it for anything. Thing is thought it seems long now since I have had it for 8 months I want something shorter!! I dont know if I will get a short throw kit, it moves pretty quick with the lude lever compared to the old accord tractor style

exaccord: no no no! the B&M short shifter doesn't let you adjust how short you want your throw.. it lets you adjust where the neutral sits at (how far front or back)...

i have the B&M shifter, it's good for its $$. Got it for $60 at http://www.carparts.com shipped, but that's only after applying a coupon.. Try to search the net for carparts coupons.. They have some good promotion at times.

For Civics and Integras, a shifter stick reduces the throw. For Preludes and Accords, you can only add an adapter to reduce throw.
