turbo kit on ebay what do i need to replace
im thinking of buying a turbo kit on ebay but i heard those alone are crap and the turbo just breaks what parts do i need to replace to make it reliable
if u ask me, its not reliable. its a hit or miss deal.
i would have waited and saved up and bought real deal stuff like the tial garrett, borg warner, turbonetics, type stuff

all the major components like manifold, turbo, I heard some of those wastegates are trash.
However it is hit or miss. I have heard positive things about them too.....just not enough to actually make me want to buy one

Ok man, to be 100% honest you are going to be ALOT better off piecing a kit together on your own. I mean it's pointless to buy a kit when most of the parts will just be sold anyways. I find it crazy that so many people will be so cheap when buying things like turbo kits. What you purchase CAN be very affordable if you take the time and look.
Whatever you do, understand that when it comes to turbos you get you pay for (When buying new) And when you pay 150-200 for an ebay turbo take that as a hint.
Production costs + Markup = Price of turbo
Production costs = Quality + time put into work
Ebay turbo
BUT if you want to know what you need to get to make it reliable, you know the turbo doesn't last AS long as a nice one. So a new turbo, new manifold (prone to crack) By the time you purchased those two things you've already payed more than the kit in the first place.
And thats only if you sub-out those two things. Good luck. And really consider piecing your own setup together! search search search. You will be better off in the long run.
Also keep in mind that it is these knock-off companies that are making it so hard for the GOOD manufactures/retailers to compete.

I haven't heard anything good about them really. Manifolds crack, Turbos are crap and the seals blow out in like 3-6 months. Wastegate failure (serious problem). I would just save up if I was you.
I've seen the earlier manifolds crack (don't know if they fixed them), ss-autochrome/knockoff ones. I don't know if I'd trust the BOV or wastegates they come with (let alone the turbo). Only thing I'd get off ebay as far as a turbo kit goes is maybe the piping kits they have with the silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps. I'd get a turbo that I know is not going to fail on me, wastegate that will be accurate and a BOV that will do its job. Even the intercoolers are kinda iffy. I'd say piece it together, I don't know about you but if I'm turbocharging my car, I don't wanna have to pull anything off afterwards because of something I skimped on in the past. HTH.

Like I told someone a few days ago, there is a difference between being a budget conscious shopper and being cheap. Ebay turbo kits = being cheap. Piecing together a kit = budget shopping.
I pieced together a good quality kit for $1300 and that included a laptop and optional guages (EGT, etc.) I just took my time. I had no specific time dates to have the kit complete, so I was able to find the best possible deals. I used ebay, but only for unopened gauges and things of that nature. Everything else was either bought from HT or local

if you can fork over just over 2g for the setup...
i know autoworks has a deal going on for full turbo kits... one of those WILL be realiable, brand name parts, excellent fitament, and excellent quality. almost forgot the most important part, someone you can ask questions when the enevitable happens!

At that point, its worth the extra $20 to buy those 3 parts seperate...
But those are the only parts that won't break easily. The fmic's aren't very efficient, the couplers/clamps aren't very strong, and quite often the DP's aren't a good fitment (and need rewelding for different manifolds).
