Default How to: JDM Del Sol Plate Fillers on non-JDM Rear Panel

well i decided to do a how to on these plate fillers...only bc i couldnt find one when i did it either way theres diferents ways you can do it but i decided to do it this way

MOst of yall want the plate fillers on an EDM panel,
but sadly in order to that you would have to cut the
holes on the EDM panel...and thats what i did... Enjoi

Tools:
Dremel
Marker
Safety Glasses (optional)
Gloves (optional)
PATIENCE
PATIENCE
PATIENCE

First remove those 2 button clips as shown and with
a washable marker paint the rim on the circle ( i actually
used a bigger marker)...you wanna go around like 3 times
making sure theres a good amount of paint on it....

Now gently position the filler as how it would fit (if like
you already had the holes) and gently press on it ...

Carefully lift up the plate filler and an imprint of the circle
will remain...
you might wanna do this a couple of times in order to
get the accurate mark

now turn over the plate filler and insert the 2 lil button
clips...now just like before your gonna wanna paint the
tip of them on both making sure theres paint on them..
and Now gently position the filler as how it would fit ..
and press..again should leave an imprint

ONCE YOUR ARE POSTIVE ABOUT YOUR IMPRINTS
MAKE SURE YOU GO OVER IT WITH A PERMANENT
MARKER OTHERWISE IT WILL START TO FADE OF
WHEN YOUR START TO DRILL

Now using your dremel start cuting the imprint
I used the drill bit for my smaller holes

i first made a small hole...then kept making the hole
wider...so until my buttons fit tight (so it wouldnt fall off in the future)

After Both holes are cut should look something like this

Moving on to the Bigger imprint (were the wires we be running)
i did it this way but theres many ways to do it...i started by making an X

and then cut off the edges until it kinda made a square

Once it was squared i used cut off wheel and gently edged
around the circle making it more closer to the lines and more rounder

once completed it looked like this

Now changing tools again with a sanding bit you want to
smoothen the edges up

Or can also do it this way...afterwards your gonna need to use the sanding bit

once you completed that side move on to the next and tadah
your panel is complete

NOTE: your are gonna want to grind the big circle some more
until it actually fits in place....

Be careful while making your imprints try it at least 3 times if not more...

hopefully mine comes out good if not

well thanks for looking

edit: theres is actually 3 lil holes that i did not go over 3
screws should be put to hold the filler in place

or do what i did i made the holes of the button snaps deal
fit tight in there so it would hold in place with out drilling those 3 holes

ok so as i was finishing up kinda left some things out

if your wanting to put the 3 lil screws that i was talking about
simply take apart the filler and plave it in the hole and mark
your 3 holes...and drill

ok i had to make holes for my license plates since in EDM
they have those European Plates....so align the license
plates with the rim of the panel

you wanna make sure it centered so go ahead
and measure each side to make sure its equal

make your marks and then drill...

after i did my markings i meausered it and came around
the same size lil before 4 inches on both sides

so begin to drill..be cure not to make the hole to big..
your gonna wanna make it almost the same size as the
bolt that will be going in (in order for it to screw in)

after you get to the size of the bolt ..
bolt the bolt in just so you can make sure its good

and repeat on the other side

ok officially done

here is my finish product:

some pics are still missing.....but im working on it

Hey...Instead of using a dremel, can you use a Nibbler? or is it too thick? I know it will take longer just thought I'd ask.
